ECHUCA: The region’s economy was given a boost last week with Moama’s latest waterfront cabin resort, Highview Waters estate, receiving its Certificate of Approval on Thursday 13 April.

Situated at the end of Merool Road, the estate features 62 cabin blocks, pool, tennis court, acres of family-friendly parkland and river access via private boat ramp. It also boasts one of the most remarkable views on the Murray as the sharp bend creates a unique 270-degree vista over the river below.

The resort is the brain child of local resident Michael Falzon who purchased the 26-acre block in 1998. Seven years in the making, it’s been thoughtfully designed to complement the natural river frontage bushland. Many of the building materials were chosen because they offer a sustainable alternative to traditional materials, including the latest in articulation technology to provide a lake with gently moving water.

The granting of the Certificate of Approval by Murray River Council will see an influx of business for trades and retailers in the area. The cabins will be built by local builders PBR Constructions and Rich River Mobile Homes.

With its extraordinary position minutes from Moama and Echuca and walking distance from local wineries, the resort is considered by some, including engineer John McCartney, to be the best resort in the region.

Its anticipated that the resort’s cabin owners and guests will also contribute to the local economy as they enjoy the region’s many restaurant and wineries.
